Course Description

Course Description

This course provides training on the essential elements of the Mark™ VI turbine control system. The course will include instruction on the hardware and software components of the Mark™ VI control system and its interface system (HMI). Alarm troubleshooting and LVDT calibration will be central topics of the program. Additionally, practical exercises on Mark™ VI equipment will reinforce the daily lecture material.

Intended for industrial gas and steam turbine users and not for customers with Aeroderivative applications

Qualified engineers and technicians who wish to gain an understanding of Mark™ VI turbine control systems

 

Prerequisites

Instruction is given in English, therefore a reasonable ability to read and understand spoken English is required

Reasonable computer skills

Basic understanding of turbine equipment and its operation (gas or steam)

Familiarity with control system basics

Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptop

Learning Objectives

This course will provide basic knowledge on the following:

  • Students will gain the skills and confidence to perform system maintenance
  • Learn and document the processes to complete control system maintenance duties
  • Save time when troubleshooting the system and minimize system down time
  • Gain an intermediate knowledge of the software tools
  • Use the software tools for troubleshooting and understanding the system
  • Apply intermediate knowledge of the software tools to make site specific modifications
